  • De La Hoya sends message to McGregor for calling out Pacquiao
  • Pacquiao's team is open to negotiate with McGregor

Golden Boy Promotions boss Oscar De La Hoya has a message for UFC star Conor McGregor after calling out Manny Pacquiao.

Former UFC two-division king McGregor has proven that he is still the champion he once was.”The Notorious” scored a TKO stoppage win over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone after 40 seconds of the very first round. As expected, McGregor already has his eyes on the next target and apparently, the UFC star wants a piece of eight-division title holder Pacquiao.

Much like Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight, Pacquiao vs. McGregor is starting to generate buzz around MMA and boxing communities. In fact, boxing legend and veteran promoter De La Hoya has recently commented on the issue. In a recent interview with “Little Giant Boxing,” De La Hoya sent his short but important message to McGregor, who has been constantly rooting for another boxing match.

“It’s a huge money fight. Why not? But in my opinion is just stay in our own lane,” De La Hoya said about McGregor calling out Pacquiao and Mayweather.

As for the outcome of the Pacquiao-McGregor boxing match, De La Hoya thinks that it will not be different from the Mayweather fight. According to the Olympic gold medallist, no matter how great McGregor did in his last fight, Pacquiao will beat him because boxing is just different from MMA.

“If Conor steps in the ring with Pacquiao? I don’t know, I mean Conor looked great. He actually did against “Cowboy.” But in the boxing ring, Pacquiao will beat him,” De La Hoya predicted.

“What’s gonna be the difference (to Mayweather fight). It’s boxing. Conor can’t kick, he can’t elbow, he can’t use that shoulder,” De La Hoya added.

This wasn’t the first time Pacquiao’s name has been linked to McGregor. A few years ago, the Pacquiao has already agreed to share the ring with the UFC star. The statement came at a time where the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match has reached new heights and according to Pacquiao, he has no problems fighting McGregor but only in boxing and not in MMA

“In boxing? In boxing I would fight McGregor but not in the UFC. Just boxing,” Pacquiao said.

Ahead of UFC 246: McGregor vs. Cowboy, Pacquiao’s advisor Sean Gibbons has hinted at a possibility of a Pacquiao vs. McGregor fight. In a short post on social media, Gibbons said that if McGregor wants a “proper fight,” he should some and talk to him.
