Television host Piers Morgan slammed both President Donald Trump and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton after their comments following Sunday's mass shooting. Morgan called Paxton a "brainless moron" on "Good Morning Britain" Monday morning in response to the attorney general's appearance on Fox News.

"This is going to happen again," Paxton said on Fox News Sunday. "You can’t necessarily keep guns out of the hands of people who are going to violate the law."

Paxton later called for more security at churches or for congregations to start carrying weapons as a result of the massacre. Morgan, who is pro-gun control, mocked the attorney general's "solution" and further advocated for tighter gun control laws in the United States.

"That's so obviously the answer, isn't it? You brainless morons," Morgan said Monday in response to Paxton's comments. "Sorry, but that's what you are Texas Attorney General: a brainless moron."

Trump was also criticized by Morgan after regarding the Texas massacre as a "mental health problem."

"This isn't a guns situation," Trump said Monday. "This is a mental health problem at the highest level."

"How can it not be a gun situation Mr. Trump?" Morgan said. "If he doesn't have a gun he can't kill people with a gun. This is not rocket science."

Morgan is also a columnist for the Daily Mail and posted a message Monday for Americans to "wake the f--- up and do something about gun control before yet more of your children are blown to smithereens."

This debate on gun control comes a day after Texas church gunman Devin Kelley walked into First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs and opened fire, killing at least 26 and wounding another 20.

The attack in the small town, roughly 30 miles from San Antonio, came just over a month after the mass shooting at Route 91 Country Music Festival in Las Vegas.
