Following a year and a half of speculations and leaks, POCO India finally announced that the successor of Pocophone F1 is coming next month. Dubbed as POCO X2, the next POCO smartphone had established high-expectations long before it was even officially confirmed. The latest specs from the company, however, seem to indicate that fans of POCO X2 might receive the rebranded Xiaomi Redmi 30 4G when it finally releases.

POCO India revealed some details about the POCO X2 while maintaining to keep some features under the wraps. On Tuesday, the company confirmed that the upcoming smartphone would sport a 120 Hz refresh rate display to offer a smooth user experience. Additionally, it shared that the smartphone would house a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, USB-C port, and liquid cooling, all of which are in the Xiaomi Redmi K30 4G variant.

Another proof pointing that POCO X2 might be the rebranded Xiaomi Redmi K30 4G is the recent discovery in the Bureau of Indian Standards’ database. The POCO phone on the database has a model number of M1912G7BI. Meanwhile, the Redmi K30 4G announced last Dec. 2019 has model numbers M1912G7BE and M1912G7BC.

Many speculate that the last letter in the model number of the smartphone represents the country where it would be released. The last letters in the model numbers of Redmi K30 4G are C and E, which align with the name of the countries it was released—China and Europe. Meanwhile, the last letter in the model number of the POCO phone is I, indicative that it might arrive in India as a version of Redmi K30 4G.

Geekbench sightings also point to multiple POCO X2 benchmarks with codename phonexin. The same code name was earlier reported by tipster kacskrz, whose friend got a hold of a Redmi K30 4G with a pre-installed phoenixin ROM. The tipster shared an image and a screen recording revealing the POCO X2 model name.

At this point, these are mere speculations. While there are indicators, we have no way of knowing for sure that the POCO X2 is a rebrand of Redmi K30 4G. We would surely know more about this when the next POCO smartphone officially arrives on Feb. 4, 2020.
