‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 5 Spoilers: 11 Things To Know Before The New Season Premieres On June 10
“Pretty Little Liars” used its Season 4 finale to finally deliver answers to questions that have been plaguing fans since day one. Unfortunately episode 24 also left viewers with their jaws on the ground when the season ended with a major cliffhanger -- two lives dangling in limbo.
The good news is that fans only have a couple months until Season 5 premieres on ABC Family on June 10. But what are you going to do to pass the time? Concoct some crazy theories based on our roundup of Season 5 clues!
1. The Season 5 Premiere
Did you think the Season 4 finale was intense? Well prepare yourself for June 10, because according to showrunner Marlene King, the summer premiere “feels like part of the finale.” King continued that “it’s very much a two-parter.”
2. The Return Of Caleb
As we previously reported, Caleb will be leaving Ravenswood and returning to Rosewood. But he’s not just going to pick up where he left off. King explained to TV Line that Caleb’s going to come back a “very changed person.”
“He lived 10 episodes of life-and-death stakes in Ravenswood, and he made some great friends there, too,” King said of Tyler Blackburn’s character.
But what about Hanna (who recently started dating Travis)? The showrunner is leaving that question up in the air, acknowledging that “Haleb” broke up, “but that was then.”
“Pretty Little Liars” fans can look forward to Caleb’s return to Rosewood in episode 5, which will also be the 100th episode.
3. Welcome Back, Alison
Can’t get enough of Alison? Then we’ve got some great news for you. The blonde team will have a much larger onscreen presence in Season 5.
It’s been two years since Alison lived in Rosewood, and fans will see if the former troublemaker has really changed. But first she’ll be forced to explain how she’s back from the dead.
“[Season 5] feels like a whole new show because there are five Pretty Little Liars now,” King told TV Guide. “It’s going to affect them all individually. It’s going to affect them as a group. It’s going to affect their relationships with their young male and female partners. Season 5 is shaping up to be emotionally the most complex season we’ve had so far.”
4. Noel Kahn’s Secret
“Pretty Little Liars” viewers were surprised to see Noel Kahn helping Alison in the Season 4 finale. The Rosewood high school student, who has been missing in action, was previously one of the major “A” suspects for the Liars. However Alison told the girls that just like them, Noel Kahn has his own secrets.
So, what’s his secret? “That will play out in Season 5,” Marlene King teased Huffington Post.
“He just pops up,” she explained of his sketchy character. “Since Season 1 he pops up in the oddest places at the oddest times. Ali doesn’t trust a lot of people and here she is in New York with Noel Kahn. It’s not a small deal. And he’s giving her a passport, money, and a plane ticket.”
5. Is Ezra Alive?
The final moments of the Season 4 finale found Ezra collapsing to the ground from a gunshot wound. Despite Aria’s pleas, Ezra closed his eyes – but did he die? #IsEzraAlive became a huge trend on Twitter, and fortunately fans don’t have to wait until June 10 to find out the answer.
He’s alive!
“I did sign a contract for a fifth season,” Ezra’s Ian Harding told Wetpaint. “I don’t know in what capacity I’m coming back.”
6. Is Mrs. DiLaurentis Dead?
Like Ezra, Mrs. DiLaurentis’ life was also left up in the air at the end of the Season 4 finale. Episode 24 ended with Alison’s mom being dragged into a grave and buried – very similar to what happened to Alison that crazy September tonight. Alison ended up being alive … but is Mrs. DiLaurentis?
“Well she seems to be dead, right?” King dished to Huffington Post. “It seems as if karma is fit that someone is burying her. We pick up that story right where we left off this summer.”
7. The 100th Episode
As we mentioned earlier in the article, “Pretty Little Liars” will be hitting its 100th episode in Season 5. Marlene King already confirmed that the episode will find Caleb returning to Rosewood, but she also teased that fans should expect something big.
“I think there will definitely be a big reveal in the 100th episode – it’s going to be an emotionally epic episode,” King explained to E! News.
8. Ravenswood’s Ending
Many “Pretty Little Liars” fans were devastated to learn that show’s spinoff series, “Ravenswood,” was canceled. The series left the town’s major mystery unresolved, but hopefully fans won’t have to wonder about what would have happened.
“We’re going to try, in a satisfactory of a way as possible not to leave you guys hanging,” Executive Producer Joseph Dougherty told TV Guide. “We knew where we were going, they just told us to get off the train.”
9. Who Is In Alison’s Grave?
When “Pretty Little Liars” cut to black right before showing Mrs. DiLaurentis at the grave, some fans speculated that Alison’s mom has been buried all this time. However that’s not the case. So, who was placed in Alison’s grave?
“You will find out in Season 5A,” King promised.
10. The Emily And Paige Breakup
The end of episode 23 did not look good for Emily and Paige. Emily was devastated by Paige’s betrayal when her girlfriend went to the police with the news that Alison was alive. And while the pair seemed to be done, Marlene King told TV Guide that the girls have a “deep love” for each other. Fans will get to see if their relationship can be fixed in the Season 5 premiere.
11. A 2015 Holiday Surprise
“Pretty Little Liars” will be making the jump from Halloween to Christmas this year. Its annual fall special will air in December as a standalone episode, but no details have been released yet.
Season 5 premieres on ABC Family on June 10. What are you looking forward to seeing when “Pretty Little Liars” returns? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section or send a tweet to @AmandaTVScoop.
