On Jan. 18, Queen Elizabeth released a statement insisting that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would remain apart of the royal family following their exit. However, insiders revealed that Prince William and Prince Charles are concerned about the couple’s future once they step back from their role as senior royals.

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to split their time between North America and the UK, William and Charles reportedly fear the couple relocated because they don’t feel welcomed by the royal family.

Sources told The Sunday Times that Prince Charles and Prince William are attempting to rebuild their bond with Prince Harry. “They are trying to rebuild the relationship between Charles and Harry and indeed between William and Harry,” the insider explained.

“They are phoning him and trying to talk to him and extending a friendly hand,” the source added.

The insider claimed there are concerns about Meghan and Harry’s safety without the help of the royal family. “The palace is very worried about the Sussexes, because they are vulnerable outside the embrace of the family,” the confidant revealed.

“They are making contingency plans in case the Sussexes suddenly turn round and say: ‘Can we come back under your wing?’ This is a looking ahead thing. There’s no timeline here. But everybody agrees that this is a fragile couple. Nobody is going to say, no they can’t come back.”

Although insiders believe Meghan and Prince Harry are putting themselves in danger by staying in Canada, the couple appears content with starting their next chapter in Vancouver.
