Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema Blasts ‘Clowns’ In Arsenal Transfer Rumors
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema delivered a clear message on social media for the people who have started, and won't stop, his supposed transfer to Arsenal. The 27-year-old French declared that Real Madrid is his “home” and called the rumormongers as “clowns” on Twitter Tuesday, and also posted a picture in Real Madrid uniform.
Last Sunday, a report stated that Benzema is set to be unveiled as the newest member of Arsenal, which was supposedly set to offer a bid of over $78 million. The French striker has now disputed those reports.
Benzema has been with Real Madrid since 2009 when he transferred from previous French club team Lyon for roughly $40 million to $46 million. In August of 2014, Benzema signed a new five-year deal with Real Madrid, which means he is under contract for the Spanish club until 2019.
In his first six seasons with Real Madrid, he has scored 133 goals in 281 appearances. Last season in the La Liga, he scored 15 goals in 29 matches and notched a total of 22 goals in 46 matches in all competitions.
Benzema has also represented the French soccer national team since 2007 scoring 26 goals in 76 international matches.
