“Orange Is the New Black” star Ruby Rose and her fiancée, British fashion designer Phoebe Dahl, have ended their engagement, E! Online confirmed Monday. The two were engaged more than a year before Rose found international fame on Season 3 of the Netflix phenomenon, which premiered in June.

Distance and work were two of the main reasons the couple couldn’t make it work. Still, they parted amicably. "It's completely amicable and they wish each other the best," a source told E! Online. The duo share pets and are trying to figure out a custody agreement, the insider added.

Though the split might seem like a shock, Rose hasn’t posted pictures of her fiancée to her active Instagram account for months. She said her life drastically changed after she was cast as Stella Carlin, the badass inmate at Litchfield.

“When I booked ‘Orange,’ I thought things were going to change a little bit and I'd be a little busier, but obviously I underestimated it,' she told People in June -- before the supposed split. “I don't think anyone knew that my character would be taken to so well.”

Aside from “OITNB,” Rose also made waves after she said she identifies as gender fluid. "I feel like I'm neither, yeah. Well, if I had to choose it would be a boy, a guy. I feel like I'm a boy, but I don't feel like I should've been born with different parts of my body or anything like that,” she told Britain's the Guardian in July. “I feel like it's just all in how I dress and how I talk and how I look and feel, and that makes me happy."

Fans can check Rose out in “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” with Mila Jovovich and Ali Later. She will also appear in “John Wick 2” with Keanu Reeves.
