"Rust" Release Window On Gaming Consoles

The team behind the game "Rust" announced earlier today that the game's much-awaited debut on gaming consoles is happening in the Spring of 2021. The announcement comes with a new trailer showing off the game's console experience. So far, there is no concrete answer as to how exactly the competitive survival title would play on consoles considering its size and its challenges on PC. However, the trailer appears just as fun and exciting as it ever was.

Major Gameplay Feature

Meanwhile, a new "Rust" gameplay video surfaced online, seemingly revealing one of its upcoming major features. The said footage was shared on YouTube by Fx, apparently showing the console experience from the game's beta. At the 8:30 mark, the video shows the player list and the symbols indicating the kind of gaming platform the player is using.

The game is currently on PC and the video suggests that it is only needed if the game has a crossplay feature. With the recent announcement of the game's console launch, it is highly likely that Facepunch Studios would also roll out the crossplay feature through an update or alongside the console's launch.

Other Details

"Rust" was launched on Steam in 2013, but it only gained traction recently due to influencers and content creators streaming the game. The team announced the game's console launch in 2019 with a 2020 release window. However, due to the effect of the pandemic last year, the release never happened.

In January 2021, the game was rated by the ESRB, triggering speculations of its imminent launch on consoles. In February, the game received the new softcore mode that interests a lot of gamers. "Rust" is currently available on PC and is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

While the developers have not yet announced it, there is a high probability that the competitive survival title will also release on next-generation gaming consoles' PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
