Salem
Mary Sibley is the only person who can stop the devil. Don’t miss the Season 3 premiere of “Salem” on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 9 p.m. EDT on WGN America. WGN America

Rejoice, heathens! “Salem” Season 3 will premiere tomorrow on WGN America. Last season saw the death of powerful witches Mary Sibley and Countess von Marburg. Mary and her lover John Alden were unable to stop their son John Jr. from becoming the devil’s vessel.

After celebrating Halloween, we’re looking forward to a season full of spells, puritan hypocrisy and evil. Here is everything you need to know about “Salem” Season 3 before its premiere:

1. Episode 1 Synopsis

The WGN series kicks off with the success of the witches’ plan to bring the devil (Oliver Bell) on earth and making Salem his capital. But the devil lied to his followers. Instead of making a world free of puritan hypocrisy, the fallen angel reveals his plans to bring nothing but death and slavery to Earth. He ultimately wants to destroy humanity.

The synopsis of the Season 3 premiere states that only one person in the world who can stop the devil is none other than Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery).

2. Episode Titles

Below are all the episode titles of Season 3:

  • Episode 1 – “After The Fall”
  • Episode 2 – “The Heart Is A Devil”
  • Episode 3 – “The Reckoning”
  • Episode 4 – “Night’s Black Agents”
  • Episode 5 – “The Commonwealth Of Hell”
  • Episode 6 - “Wednesday's Child”
  • Episode 7 – “The Man Who Was Thursday”
  • Episode 8 – “Friday’s Knights”
  • Episode 9 – “Saturday Mourning”
  • Episode 10 – “Black Sunday”

3. New Characters

“Salem” Season 3 will introduce two new characters – a barber/surgeon named Thomas Dinely (Marilyn Manson) and a character named The Sentinel (Samuel Roukin).

Dinley is the barber of Salem. The good people of the town go to him for everything from a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up. He is an ally of the devil.

The second new character is a mysterious man called The Sentinel. Although it isn’t clear what his role is in the Season 3 plot, speculation suggests that he is also an ally of the devil.

4. John Alden Leads A Militia

John Alden (Shane West) will be full of guilt in the Season 3 premiere. After all, Mary sacrificed her life to save his. The former Captain will take on a new role after his fight against the witches failed last season. He will lead and train a militia in Salem that will protect its citizens against the French, the Indians and, of course, witches.

However, the events of last season ensure that Alden isn’t angry at Mary anymore for being a witch. He still loves her. They joined forces to try to stop their son from becoming the devil. Although they failed, it became clear to “Salem” fans that there is still some love left between the childhood sweethearts.

5. Tituba Becomes A Seer

The devil launched an attack on Tituba (Ashley Madekwe). The former servant of the Sibleys was assaulted by a pack of vicious crows who left her to die in the woods. Fortunately, Tituba is alive and well. Unfortunately, she cannot see anymore.

The witch became blind after the attack but she also got a unique gift. She ate seer Petrus’ (Christopher Berry) eyes last season and imbued his powers. She can now see the future. Sadly, the future is grim. If the devil continues to walk on Earth, humanity will soon become extinct. Hence, she joins the fight against the devil.

6. Cotton Is Suicidal

Poor Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel). The priest unknowingly married a witch – Anne Hale (Tamzin Merchant). When he found out the truth, Anne stuffed her rat familiar, Brown Jenkins, down his throat. It seemed like Cotton’s fate was sealed as the next George Sibley (Michael Mulheren). It’s no wonder that he becomes suicidal in Season 3.

7. Mercy Is Up To No Good

Issac (Iddo Goldberg) tried to stop Mercy Lewis (Elise Eberle) but could not. The sorceress was burned by Mary but learned from the Countess (Lucy Lawless) that by putting the blood of young girls on her skin, she can become beautiful again.

In Season 3, the witch will be up to no good. She will continue consuming the blood of nubile, helpless girls and killing tyrannical men.

8. “Salem” Season 3 Has Only 10 Episodes

Alas! Season 3 is much shorter than the previous seasons of “Salem.”

“Salem” Season 3 premieres on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 9 p.m. EDT on WGN America.
