Galaxy Note 3 rumors
Reports suggest the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have four different models. Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has made yet another stealth appearance on a Samsung (KRX:005930) website in less than two weeks. The upcoming device was spotted by its unique model number on Samsung’s website on Friday. According to Blog of Mobile, which has been frequently accurate in its pre-release reports on various devices, the model number, SM-N900J, corresponds with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Not much else can be deciphered from the leak. That said, we can make some inferences based on the previous Galaxy Note 3 sighting. On June 3, Tech Tastic discovered that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was mentioned among several devices on a Web page about some sort of regional VIP service on the Samsung Kazakhstan website. According to the Tech Tastic, the model number for the Galaxy Note 3 is SM-N9000. When a similar model number for the Galaxy Note 3 was spotted on Samsung’s U.S. website, Blog of Mobile made the connection and declared it to be that of the newest version of the tablet. The Korean manufacturer is known for designating different yet similar model numbers for its devices based on the region in which they are sold, hence the slight variation in model numbers.

This is not the first time we’ve seen model numbers for various devices leaked by Samsung. Gotta Be Mobile said that the model number for the Samsung Galaxy S4 surfaced on Samsung’s website well before the device’s March unveiling and April release. And the recently released Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 was also spotted in model number form on the Samsung Japan website prior to its debut.

In addition to model number appearances, various leaked photos of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 have surfaced in recent days. Earlier this week Sam Mobile and TechTastic shared photos of a rather large device they claimed was the Galaxy Note 3. Days later, GforGames shared a front-face photo of the device next to two much smaller devices for comparison. While some wonder whether the device is the Galaxy Note 3 or perhaps the recently released Galaxy Mega, which sports a gargantuan 6.3-inch display, others note that the device may be a Galaxy Note 3 prototype in a decoy outer shell to hide the true design of the device.

Similarly, many pre-release sightings of older Samsung devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, have featured a plain, rectangular device shell, with none of the defining characteristics of a Samsung smartphone. We keep in mind that Samsung developers don’t need the phone to be outfitted with its proper chassis in order to work on its software.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 remains mostly the stuff of rumors, we believe that the device has enough buzz around it to ensure that it is in fact real and coming soon. Rumors still suggest a September unveiling for the device at the IFA Expo in Berlin. We expect to see the Galaxy Note 3 feature such specs as a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor, a 5.99-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, a 13-megapixel camera, 3GB RAM, LTE, 8mm breadth and 182 gram weight.

When comparing the difference in model number for this device to that of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, GT-N7100, the Galaxy Note 3’s proposed SM-N900J/SM-N9000 model numbers could indicate major feature differences in the Galaxy Note phablet line. Earlier rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 may lack stylus functionality.
