Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge: Find Out Which Country, Carrier Variants Will Receive Snapdragon 820, Exynos 8890 Models

Since the Snapdragon 810 chipset was marred with thermal heating problems, Samsung decided to skip its usage in their 2015 flagships. However, fresh rumors indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge that are expected to release early in 2016 will be available in different chipsets like Snapdragon and Exynos 8890.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge carried respective model numbers of SM-G920 and SM-G925 this year. Hence, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to have a model number of SM-G930 whereas the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is expected to carry a model number of SM-G935. However, more variations in the model numbers of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have surfaced depending on the chipset and country variants, Sam Mobile reported citing unofficial source.

Snapdragon 820 Powered Galaxy S7, S7 Edge Variants

The Snapdragon 820 chipset will be powering the Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular variants in the U.S. The model numbers of the Verizon Galaxy S7 and Verizon Galaxy S7 Edge are SM-G930V and SM-G935V. The model numbers of the Sprint Galaxy S7 and Sprint Galaxy S7 Edge are SM-G930P and SM-G935P.

The US Cellular Galaxy S7 and US Cellular Galaxy S7 Edge have model numbers of SM-G930R4 and SM-G935R4. The Snapdragon 820 chipset will also power the Chinese Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge with model numbers SM-G9300 and SM-G9350. All the aforementioned variants are built for CDMA carriers.

Exynos 8890 Powered Galaxy S7, S7 Edge Variants

The Exynos 8890 chipset from Samsung will be the AT&T and T-Mobile variants in the U.S. The AT&T Galaxy S7 and AT&T Galaxy S7 Edge will have model numbers SM-G930A and SM-G935A. The T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and T-Mobile Galaxy S7 Edge carry model numbers like SM-G930T and SM-G930T.

The international editions of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge with model numbers SM-G930F and SM-G935F will also feature the Exynos 8890 chipset. The Canadian Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge with model numbers SM-G930W8 and SM-G935W8 will be powered by the Exynos 8890 chipset. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for Korea will have model numbers SM-G930 S/K/L and SM-G935 S/K/L on the basis of different carriers.
