Shannen Doherty Calls Cops Over Suicidal Twitter Follower
Shannen Doherty called New Jersey cops after she became concerned when one of the actress’ Twitter followers allegedly threatened to kill themselves.
Doherty, 41, suspected that the follower, a 27-year-old New Jersey woman, had a gun and was worried that the fan of the “90210” actress would harm herself, TMZ reported Tuesday.
The actress got in touch with the Westampton Township Police Department in New Jersey after contacting the Twitter follower, who gave her address to Doherty, the gossip website reported.
When cops arrived at the fan’s New Jersey home, the woman denied that she wanted to kill herself and refused medical attention, according to TMZ.
Westampton Township officers interviewed the woman and did not determine that she was a harm to herself.
While Doherty’s concern turned out to be a false alarm, the actress was still appreciative of cops for checking up on the Twitter follower.
“Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring,” Doherty wrote on Sunday on her Twitter account, where she has more than 180,000 followers.
Some Twitter users who follow Doherty saw the tweet and were concerned that something was wrong with the “90210” actress.
“@DohertyShannen everything ok?” asked user Renna Stonebridge.
Doherty clarified that she was not in trouble.
“Thanks gang. Police wasn't for me, was a girl on here who needed their help,” the actress wrote.
