Following countless requests from the Shiba Inu community, the development team of the dog-themed altcoin gave in and now allows investors to use SHIB to purchase lands in "Shib: The Metaverse," in addition to using Ethereum.

When "Shib: The Metaverse" was announced on March 30, the development team made it clear through a blog that lands will be available for purchase using Ethereum. The Shiba Army, or the community, apparently was not pleased with this.

The development team seemed to have listened to the community. In a tweet shared by lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, on Wednesday, the official Twitter handle of the Shiba Inu metaverse shared that a new minting option that allows investors to mint using SHIB is now available.

The tweet also features a short video announcing the good news and saying, "you guys asked, and we listened." Kusama seemed happy about the latest development in the Shiba Inu metaverse, saying: " I'm so incredibly excited about Shib's MV."

The development team had initially said the Shiba Inu token can only be used in the metaverse to add pictures and logos to plots. Each time pictures are changed, SHIB is also burned.

Shiba Inu tokens can also be used to name or rename plots in the metaverse, giving owners the ability to give the virtual world their individual identity. Apart from those, landowners can also use SHIB to lease the most valuable lands in the whole virtual universe called HUBS.

The third stage of "Shib: The Metaverse," which is a public land sale, started a few weeks ago. The stage marked the last phase of the introductory stage of land sales in the Shiba Inu metaverse.

"Lands are available for everyone to purchase (no locking required)," the development team announced on Twitter. It also announced that "land prices starting at 0.2 ETH" and that interested investors should have a Metamask wallet.

Shiba Inu was trading up 5.29% at $0.00002172, with a 24-hour volume of $651,437,836, as of 9:27 p.m. ET on Wednesday based on the data from CoinMarketCap.
