KEY POINTS

  • Ryoshi first proposed the Layer-2 blockchain Shibarium
  • When it launches, all SHIB tokens will be migrated to it
  • SHIB was trading down 6.03 percent at $0.00001097

One of the highly anticipated announcements the Shiba Inu community looks forward to is the Beta testing and release of the documentation of Shibarium. And, based on several tweets from key figures in the development team, it looks like an announcement related to the Layer-2 solution could happen sometime this week.

Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, previously teased that they will no longer take calls until after the Mercury Retrograde is over. Interestingly, the Mercury Retrograde ends on Friday and while Kusama did not say anything about it, some investors speculate a major announcement could happen.

Kusama also shared a GIF showing a kid touching his stomach and looking at the camera with the caption "laughing in Shibarium." Last month, the lead developer was asked about the potential release of Shibarium documentation and they answered, "this month or next," which falls in June.

SHIB holders are excited about Shibarium's launch because Kusama previously said that the community would "really see the power of SHIB" following its arrival. Shibarium is the layer-2 solution that will bring a plethora of benefits to the Shiba Inu community, including low gas fees and a burning mechanism.

These factors could help make Shiba Inu an interactive crypto asset to investors, thus boosting the price of the dog-themed altcoin. Shibarium was first proposed by the pseudonymous creator of Shiba Inu, Ryoshi and when it launches, SHIB tokens will be migrated to it.

Kusama said in April that Shibarium is coming "very soon" and revealed that the Shibarium documentation would come out soon as well. Shiba developer, in an update in April, said that "SHIBARIUM - In Alpha, will move to Beta soon."

The Layer-2 blockchain will receive a public test soon and if time permits, it looks like the announcement, documentation and public test could all happen this month. The hashtag Shibarium trended on Twitter on Wednesday following news of Ryoshi deleting all of their tweets and blogs and as SHIB's price plummeted.

SHIB was trading down 6.03 percent at $0.00001097 with a 24-hour volume of $433,589,129 as of 5:00 a.m. ET on Thursday based on the data from CoinMarketCap.
