Sony is looking into opening a new business unit to release some of its biggest game franchises for mobile devices, as hinted at by a new job listing released by the company.

Sony Interactive Entertainment PlayStation is looking for a new Head of Mobile, according to a job listing spotted by VGC. Based on the said post, the gaming giant is in need of an individual who has the capability to "lead the development and strategy of mobile gaming and help shape the future of gaming for a world-class studio."

Sony wants the Head of Mobile to own and develop a mobile game strategy for PlayStation Studios, as well as to create a foundation for growth opportunities going forward.

Additionally, the job listing describes the Head of Mobile as being the one in charge of leading "all aspects of the expansion of our game development from consoles and PCs to mobile & Live Services with a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile."

The job listing also notes that the chosen candidate would be responsible for "building and scaling a team of mobile leaders and will serve as the Head of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios."

Sony has a mobile publishing label called PlayStation Mobile Inc., according to Eurogamer. The projects released under the said label include the PlayStation app, "Run Sackboy! Run!," "Uncharted: Fortune Hunter" and the PS remote Play app. Additionally, Sony also released the AR app "AR app God of War | Mimir's Vision" and several other PlayStation 4 PlayLink titles under the publishing label.

The company also used PlayStation Mobile, Inc. to publish PS titles on PC, including the upcoming game "Days Gone" and other games like "Horizon" and "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture." Which popular franchises Sony would release on mobile devices remains unclear.

The company has a long list of successful franchises that mobile gamers can look forward to, however. Among them are franchises from Naughty Dog such as "The Last of Us" and "Uncharted," "The God of War" series from Santa Monica Studio, "Ratchet & Clank" from Insomniac and "Gran Tourismo" from Polyphony.

Unfortunately, it would take a while before these games, if they ever make it to mobile devices, become available to gamers. The job advertisement says that the roadmap to develop these titles could be between three and five years.
