The Strain
“The Strain” Season 3, episode 4 airs on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. Michael Gibson/FX

“The Strain” Season 3 aired a shocking episode last week in which a major character died. Quinlan perished after he beheaded The Master on the FX series. However, his efforts, though admirable, did not kill the strigoi leader. In the final moments of episode 3, a huge worm from The Master’s body slithered down a drain. Now, he will have to search for a new host. Who will be his vessel after Bolivar and is Quinlan really gone?

Unfortunately, the Season 3, episode 4 promo confirms Quinlan’s (Rupert Penry-Jones) death. One scene shows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather/Eph (Corey Stoll) talking to the half-strigoi in a morgue.

Watch the preview of “Gone But Not Forgotten” below:

According to the synopsis (via SpoilerTV) of the upcoming episode, Fet (Kevin Durand) is eager celebrate their victory but Setrakian (David Bradley) and Eph are worried that there is work to be done. The professor and doctor understand that they haven’t killed The Master (Jack Kesy) yet. Far from it. They know that he will be resurrected soon.

Meanwhile, the infection will enter a new phase. The strigois are evolving on “The Strain” in Season 3.

The preview makes it clear that Eph still wants his son Zack (Max Charles) back. He is worried that now he is of no use to The Master and they won’t have a reason to keep him alive. Will his mother Kelly (Natalie Brown) turn him into a bloodsucking monster? In the trailer of Season 3, episode 4, it looks like she is protecting him, but how long can she shield him from The Master’s wrath?

Perhaps the most chilling aspect of the video is Thomas Eichhorst’s (Richard Sammel) fury. He declares that the strigois will strike back.

Furthermore, Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) and Eph will join forces.

“The Strain” Season 3, episode 4 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
