FX’s “The Strain” has only two episodes left to air in Season 3. Last time we saw the horror series; the Ancients were attacked by an army of strigoi led by Thomas Eichhorst. Episode 8 ended with the Ancients getting bombed and Quinlan evacuating the building just before the explosion. What will happen in episode 9?

New York City has fought bravely against the strigoi invasion. But with the vampires recapturing all the safe zones, the city is now falling. According to the synopsis of “The Strain” Season 3, episode 9, New York is falling and our favorite hunters will fight to stop the virus from spreading to all parts of the city.

Titled “Do Or Die,” the upcoming episode will see Dr. Ephraim Goodweather/Eph (Corey Stoll) and his new lover and sidekick, Dutch Velders (Ruta Gedmintas), frantically race to finish their new device. They need it to stop the Master from having complete control over the city. This device is meant to block the Master’s call to arms. His call to arms is what signals all the strigois to fight for him.

Meanwhile, Councilwoman Justine Feraldo (Samantha Mathis), Gus (Miguel Gomez) and Angel (Joaquin Cosio) fight in one last stand to stop the virus from claiming more lives. It looks like this might be the final battle for New York in “The Strain” Season 3.

It also remains to be seen whether Vasily Fet (Kevin Durand) will find out that his former lover Dutch is now sleeping with Eph. Ever since Season 3 began, Dutch and Eph have been working together in the lab/Fet’s apartment. The series has slowly been building their chemistry.

The penultimate episode of “The Strain” Season 3 will also show Stoneheart CEO Eldritch Palmer (Johnathan Hyde) pretending to be sick in order get revenge against Eichhorst and the Master. He received a dose of the white from Setrakian (David Bradley). However, going against the Master is never a good idea, not even for someone as wealthy and powerful as Palmer.

“The Strain” Season 3, episode 9 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
