UPDATE: 12.30 a.m. EDT - The death toll in the boat accident rose to 11, which includes several children. Five people are still missing, according to officials. Cox Health Medical Center said seven people were getting treatment at the facility and the condition of two of them were critical.

UPDATE: 12 a.m. EDT- Officials confirmed the number of fatalities has increased to 10 and the boat is still at the bottom of the lake. The number of people missing is still unknown.

At least eight people have died after a duck boat carrying 31 passengers, including children, capsized at Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri, Thursday night.

Eric Nielsen, a spokesman with the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District said, “We can confirm there are fatalities.”

The Stone County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed there were eight fatalities. Cox Health Medical Center spokeswoman Kaitlyn McConnell said at least 6 people were getting treatment in the hospital.

Southern Stone County Fire Department said multiple agencies and rescue teams are on the scene and several injured have been taken to nearby hospital.

“Crews from multiple agencies are on scene of an MCI ‘Mass Casualty Incident’ ‘tourist type boat involved’ this is on Table Rock Lake, Stone County, Branson Missouri. Taney County assisting. Several patients transported ...” the department tweeted.

"We are aware of an incident that happened tonight on Table Rock Lake, in Stone County. While the incident did not occur in Branson, we are hoping and praying for all involved. All questions should be directed to the Missouri Highway Patrol or the Stone County Sheriff’s Dpt,” the city of Branson tweeted.

"Sustained winds over 40 mph, lightning, moderate rain and lowered visibility to as low as 2 miles may have contributed to this incident," said weather.com meteorologist Jonathan Belles.
