“Teen Mom 2” Kailyn Lowry’s marriage to Javi Marroquin was doomed, Us Weekly wrote in an exclusive report Thursday. The MTV reality star knew their relationship wasn’t going to work out.

Their bond was never strong. “There was always a disconnect,” an insider told the magazine. “They’ve been unhealthy for a while, and Kail knew divorce was inevitable.” Another anonymous source added: “The bottom line is they were two strong personalities who both want to be in control living together. They clashed.”

Despite rumors that Marroquin cheated on Lowry with someone he works with while deployed overseas in the Air Force, a different source said the “TM2” star didn’t believe the gossip: “They’ve been separated since December, so if Javi was with anyone else overseas it wouldn’t really be cheating.”

While the source said Lowry, 24, wasn’t afraid Marroquin, 23, cheated, a cryptic tweet possibly spelled something different. “The only time I can be lied to is when I don't want to believe the truth,” she wrote to her 1.14 million Twitter followers Sunday.

Aside from deleting his Twitter account, Marroquin hasn’t responded to the divorce drama.

The couple was married for nearly four years before they called it quits. They share son Lincoln, 3, together. Lowry had son Isaac, 6, from her relationship with Jo Rivera.

Though things with Marroquin didn’t work out, she has seemingly repaired her relationship with her oldest son’s father. She even opened up to him about her marital problems during Season 7.

“Javi and I have been dealing with some stuff while he’s been deployed and it’s been way harder than I ever anticipated,” she said. “It makes me nervous for a lot of things, not just our situation. Javi is going to have to deal with us all being on good terms, but just everything in general.”

“Teen Mom 2” airs on MTV Mondays at 10 p.m. EDT.
