“Teen Mom OG” star Farrah Abraham shared some exciting news Monday: She’s going to adopt a baby boy or a baby girl. Apparently, she and her daughter, Sophia, had some conversations and decided it would be best for them to expand their family.

The MTV reality star opened up about her decision during an exclusive interview with OK! magazine Thursday. “We’re going through the process of approval,” Abraham, 24, said. “I’m very excited to adopt.”

Part of what helped make Abraham open to the idea of adoption was the way she grew up in Iowa. “Every neighbor of mine was adopted and they also did foster care,” the sex tape star said. “I grew up around that. I’m very passionate.”

As for Sophia, she can’t wait to be a big sister. “Sophia is in the right frame of mind and is very supportive as well,” Abraham said. “She is very open and accepting to understanding that someone else had other parents, and we would be their second parent and be a loving family to them.”

Abraham expects the bundle-of-joy will join her family in the following year.

The “TMOG” star came under fire last week after she created an Instagram account for her daughter. Despite online bullies and trolls, Abraham mused it was safe for Sophia to have a social media account because she -- not the 6-year-old -- would monitor it. “It's me and everyone else approving things and watching over,” the reality star told OK! Magazine in a different article. “It’s not Sophia directly -- she has fun with it.”

After all, Sophia has her own fan base and Abraham mused she should have her own online presence. “I have to say it’s not really outlandish to do that when you are in the public eye,” she said.
