Terry Crews Posts Russell Simmons Email Asking For 'Pass' On Sexual Assault
Music mogul Russell Simmons was accused of sexual assault Sunday in a Los Angeles Times investigation. Not soon after, actor and former NFL player Terry Crews tweeted an email he had allegedly received from Simmons which downplayed Crews’ own allegation that he was groped by a Hollywood executive.
Crews in October spoke out about allegedly being groped at a party, but did not name the person. This week the actor identified the alleged groper as Adam Venit, the head of the motion picture department at talent agency William Morris Endeavor. Venit, who has represented a bevy of well known Hollywood actors was subsequently suspended from his role while the talent agency conducts an internal investigation.
On Sunday, Crews tweeted out an email he allegedly received from Simmons that said “Did he ever apologize, give the agent a pass, ask that he be reinstated, with great love all things are possible.”
Crews had his own message for Simmons, whose Twitter handle is UncleRush.
“Dear @UncleRUSH—— NO ONE GETS A PASS”
Simmons was accused of sexual assault by a model named Keri Claussen Khalighi. She alleged the assault happened in 1991 and claimed that director Brett Ratner, who has had his own string of sexual misconduct allegations, watched and did nothing to stop it. Khalighi was 17 at the time and Simmons 34.
Simmons denied the allegation in a statement posted to Twitter and said that anything that occurred between the two of them was consensual.
