‘Under The Dome’ Season 3 Spoilers: Questions To Be Answered In Upcoming Season; EP Promises New Twists To Follow
We’ve got good news for “Under the Dome” fans! According to reports, Season 3 of the hit CBS drama will finally answer all those lingering questions that have left audiences scratching their heads over the past two seasons.
During a CBS summer press event, Neal Baer and Tim Sclattmann, executive producers of the supernatural TV series based on Stephen King’s 2009 novel of the same name, dished that fans will learn the purpose of the mysterious and menacing dome this summer. The new installment is set to premiere on Thursday, June 25.
“We will tell you why the dome came down and what it’s about,” the EP confirmed, adding that by the end of Season 3, “you’ll know exactly why this happened the way that it happened.”
The dome has caused it's fair share of chaos since it came crashing down around Chester’s Mill (and straight through cows) in 2014. Not only has the bubble created conflicts between the confined town’s residents but it’s also led to the deaths of several beloved characters from Angie (Britt Robertson) to Dodee (Jolene Purdy) and even the science-loving teacher Rebecca (Karla Crome).
According to reports, the perplexing plot of “Under the Dome” will soon be pieced together when the sci-fi series returns.
“Why was there 25 years to pass before the dome came down? What was in play 25 years ago that set all this in motion?” Schlattman questioned. “That’s one of the biggies we’re going to address. You’ll see how these puzzle pieces form a puzzle that may be different from what you thought it would be.”
Baer addressed that they’re aware they’ve “taken viewers though all kinds of calamities,” but they’ve buckled down to make Season 3 of “Under the Dome” “really character-orientated.”
“We promise you we will answer why the dome is there, but of course we’re going to ask more questions,” he added, revealing that they're going to "go further" in the third season.
Fans got a taste of the upcoming story line when a one-minute promo video was released by CBS. In the trailer, viewers see that the villainous Big Jim (Dean Norris) alive, well and arguing once again with Julia (Rachelle Lefevre) on how to save the residents of Chester’s Mill -- even though they were the ones left behind when Season 2 concluded.
“Everyone in this town is trapped under the dome,” Julia says to the gun-wielding former sheriff. But it looks like Big Jim has no desire to go toe-to-toe with the dangerous dome.
“The dome is here to destroy us,” he fires back.
According to the promo video, viewers will be introduced to new twists and characters (Marg Helgenberger from “CSI” will join the cast as Christine Price) when the upcoming installment of “Under the Dome” airs.
