‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Paul Wesley Talks Elena And Stefan Romance In Episode 18
“The Vampire Diaries” returns to The CW with episode 18 on April 17, and long time fans definitely won’t want to miss it. Besides the fact that Stefan’s Paul Wesley directed the episode, viewers are in for a treat … because “Resident Evil” will be a “throwback” to Season 1.
There is no denying that the CW series has evolved since it first premiered in 2009. New evils, new relationships and new settings have been introduced. But all that will be cast aside in episode 18 when Stefan and Elena are romantically reunited. Yes, that’s right – Stelena is back!
As we previously reported, “Resident Evil” will find Elena and Stefan having “unsettling dreams of an alternate version of the life they might have had together.” And Wesley just opened up to TV Guide about what fans can expect when sparks fly between the former couple.
According to the actor and director, the dreams about another life together will stem from the doppelganger prophecy that was introduced earlier in Season 5. However the twist is that it will feel a lot like Season 1.
“It’s always nice to do anything that is different and slows the train down,” Wesley explained to TV Guide of his scenes with Elena’s Nina Dobrev. “Season 1 was 20 mph and by the time we got to Season 5, we’re flying and it’s hard to keep up sometimes. So to slow down and do a throwback to Season 1 was really lovely.”
As Elena and Stefan have their steamy dreams, Damon will be doing his best to get to the bottom of what Markos and the Travelers want. Luke and Liv have some information on the Travelers secret agenda, but Damon will go right to the source for what he wants to know – Markos. The Travelers leader will talk with Damon, which leaves the bad boy Salvatore “both relieved and disturbed” with what he learned.
Fans will have to wait and see what Damon finds out, but it will more than likely have to do with the doppelganger prophecy. And fortunately for Damon’s poor broken heart, Stefan and Elena aren’t pro-prophecy.
“Because they think it’s a prophecy it takes away the romanticism of it like an arranged marriage,” Paul Wesley revealed on Stelena rekindling their love.
So, does that mean that Stefan and Elena aren’t getting back together? It’s not looking good for Stelena fans, but don’t give up hope yet! Wesley could be trying to throw “Vampire Diaries” viewers off. The actor revealed the following to the The Hollywood Reporter: “The cliffhanger at the end of the season can go many different directions in Season 6.”
Watch Paul Wesley’s directorial debut when episode 18 of “The Vampire Diaries” airs on The CW on April 17 at 8 p.m. EDT.
