Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd Expecting First Baby After PCOS Struggles: ‘Believe In Yourself’

Victoria's Secret Angel Romee Strijd will become a mom soon.

Strijd shared the best news she got to the world on Thursday (May 28). Strijd took to Instagram to announce that she and her longtime boyfriend Laurens van Leeuwen are expecting their first child together.

Strijd had a hard time getting pregnant. The model detailed her pregnancy journey in a lengthy post.

“2 years ago I got diagnosed with PCOS after not getting my period for 7 years. I was devastated because being a mom and starting a family with @laurensvleeuwen is my biggest dream,” Strijd wrote.

The model was told that it would be harder for her to have babies in a natural way because she had PCOS. She researched about the condition and learned that her case was due to her body being in fight or flight mode. She was under constant stress.

Strijd wasn’t mentally super stressed, but she had a demanding schedule. She admitted that she travels often, works out everyday, and eats super clean diet with food restrictions.

“I think I pressured my body to much, and honestly every body is so different but I think my weight was not good for my body to function properly and couldn’t handle the constant traveling,” the expectant mom continued.

Strijd looked for natural healing for PCOS and concluded that she should do less high intensity training, eat whatever food she wants, be nice to herself, and take breaks when needed. She also took natural supplements, did acupuncture and got a place in the Netherlands to spend some time with her family.

Strijd’s period returned in November, and she’s now expecting her first baby. The Victoria’s Secret Angel concluded her post with a warm message to women who want to conceive like her.

“To the women trying to conceive,” Strijd wrote. “Believe in yourself and be nice for yourself and your body and don’t let those thoughts get to you to much.”

Strijd and Leeuwen have been together for 10 years already. Sometimes she shares funny videos of them together. In January, the supermodel shared a throwback photo taken a decade ago alongside a more recent photo to celebrate their anniversary as a couple on Instagram.

“2010 vs 2020. Can’t believe we are together today for 10 YEARS!! I’m so happy to ride this rollercoaster called life with you! And I feel like every year I love you more and more and moreee,” Strijd wrote.
