Emily Kinney is trading in her zombie survival skills for a scalpel! During the 2015 Shorty Awards, the “Walking Dead” actress, who previously portrayed the beloved character Beth Greene on the hit AMC series, shared an exciting update with the International Business Times regarding her next career endeavor.
Before slipping into the TimesCenter building to present during the 7th annual social media event, the 29-year-old actress confirmed to IBTimes that she’ll be starring in Season 2 of the of the medical drama “The Knick.”
“I’m definitely excited,” Kinney stated her eagerness to appear in the Cinemax series, which was renewed for a 10-episode sophomore season in July.
So, what role will the blond-haired beauty be taking on in the second season?
“I think they want the character to be a little bit of a surprise,” Kinney teased during the interview. Although she remained tight-lipped regarding her upcoming role, the actress did reveal that she “had a blast” during the two months she filmed for “The Knick.”
“It’s nice to shoot here in New York City,” she said, explaining how grateful she is to be involved in a show that’s close to her home. “When I usually shoot shows, I’m going to Georgia [for “The Walking Dead”] or “The Flash” is in Vancouver.” Kinney recently portrayed the evil Brie Larvan on the hit CW series, where she channeled her inner villain as the Bug-Eyed Bandit. “It’s been nice to wake up, make coffee in my own apartment and go to work.”
The New York native explained that’s not the only benefit of living in the Big Apple! According to Kinney, one of her best friends from “The Walking Dead” also resides in the city that never sleeps. (Daryl/Beth shippers can officially start freaking out!)
“I talk to Norman [Reedus] -- he also lives in New York City. I hang out with him,” Kinney revealed, adding that she still stays in touch with her “Walking Dead” family. “They’re my best friends!”
The red carpet star divulged that in addition to fans seeing her face grace the small screen, they will also be able to watch her rock out on stage when she goes on tour for her new album “This Is War,” which will be released this summer.
“I’ve been really focused on music,” the songstress, who debuted her vocal talent on “The Walking Dead,” revealed. “I have a new single being released next week and then I’ll be going on tour for a month and a half -- it’s [throughout] 31 cities and a lot of it has already started to sell out, which is really exciting.” But don’t fret! According to Kinney, there are still some cities where tickets can still be bought.
