Was Talinda Bentley’s Twitter Hacked After Chester Bennington’s Death? It’s Happened Before
Some disturbing tweets from Chester Bennington’s wife’s account have caused alarm over whether or not she had cheated on him and even encouraged him to take his own life. However, it seems more likely that Talinda Bentley was actually hacked, something that has happened to her in the past.
News that Bennington, 41, had died, broke yesterday, with reports from TMZ confirming he had taken his own life by hanging himself in a Los Angeles home. It was unclear at the time of the news what had led to his death, or if he had left behind any note indicating what led to the situation. Later that night, a series of tweets appeared on Bentley’s account, where she allegedly confessed to having an affair with his Linkin Park bandmate, Mike Shinoda, said she never loved her husband and had only married him for money, and that she had proof Bennington was already dead before he allegedly hanged himself.

Other tweets followed later on, with claims she had encouraged Bennington to kill himself, and hinted she may also harm herself as well. All of the tweets have since been deleted.
Neither Bentley nor Shinoda have spoken out about the claims made in the tweets, though it was widely believed on social media that Bentley’s account had been hacked and the tweets were not ones which she herself composed.
Bentley hasn’t confirmed that her Twitter account was hacked, but it would seem likely that it was the case, as it would not be the first time she or Bennington had been the victims of hacking. Shortly after the couple married in 2005, they became the victims of a cyberstalker.
That incident saw the couple, Bentley specifically, inundated at first with a slew of bizarre emails, where the sender claimed they were “happy” for the pair and linked to a web site run by Bennington’s recent ex-wife, Samantha Olit. Other email messages made dark inferences about Bentley’s dating history, and also indicated that the sender knew she was home alone during the times that Bennington was touring with his band.

From there, the situation escalated to some creepy phone calls, before Bentley’s email account itself was hacked. At the time, she allegedly sent emails from a no longer active account to friends and family, as well as the band’s head of security, Bruce Thompson, where she allegedly asked for Olit’s email address. From there, the hacker also changed the password on Bentley’s eBay account, and attempted to hack both the couple’s Paypal account and Bennington’s Verizon Wireless account.
The hacking was eventually traced to a woman named Devon Townsend, and she was sentenced in 2008 to two years in prison.
Bentley and Bennington’s marriage was one where the pair seemed to genuinely be in love through the years, with Bentley taking to her Twitter account just a week and a half before her husband’s death to share a photo of herself and one of their twin daughters, telling her husband that they missed him and were thinking of him.
Bennington also spoke highly of his wife over the years, and according to The Mirror, penned the song “Give Me Your Name,” performed by Dead Before Sunrise, for her.
