'The Westbrooks' BET TV Show Teased By Sisters India Love And Morgan At The VMAs Red Carpet, Say They'll Give Kardashians A Challenge
The hottest names in social media are about to become the hottest name in cable now that “The Westbrooks” has been announced as a BET reality series coming this fall. To help promote the new show, some of the Westbrooks sisters attended the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet in Los Angeles to tease what fans can expect when their docuseries airs.
Speaking to International Business Times on the red carpet of the Miley Cyrus hosted VMAs event on Aug. 30, two members of the Westbrooks family, India Love and Morgan, gave their own little synopsis of the family’s upcoming show, set to premiere Oct. 20 after “Being Mary Jane.”
“Basically, we have a show. We’re five girls and we have the same mom and dad,” India Love said. “We’re built on love and we have a social media platform that brought us to television and we basically want to showcase how that happened.”
The family already filmed a few episode of a reality show, which they produced and posted on YouTube, before being picked up by BET for a regular series. When asked if they were hoping to give the current first family of reality TV, the Kardashians, a run for their money, the Instagram model joked that she’s up for the task. After the laughter died down, her sister, Morgan, was quick to mark the difference between what the Westbrooks are trying to do versus the Kardashians.
“It’s not really a challenge to me because we’re on two different platforms,” she told IBTimes. “They’re on a whole different world than we are and we’re just going to give people the ‘real.’ Real arguments, real advice, just real everything.”
For those that aren’t familiar with the Westbrooks, they got their start on Instagram when India Love started a modeling profile that blew up and became one of the most popular accounts on the app. This propelled her sisters, some of whom are models as well, to similar social media fame. Unfortunately for those that hope to follow the young starlet on social media, that’s a little tricky as The Hollywood Fix reports that India Love’s profile has been hacked several times and her pictures frequently get stolen for fan pages masquerading as her official account.
