What Is Lokai? How To Buy Blue Limited-Edition Bracelet For World Water Day
It’s so passé to wear a yellow Livestrong bracelet, right? But lokai is different. All the hottest celebs in Hollywood can be spotted with the trendy beaded bracelet nowadays.
So what makes lokai so special? The bracelet, created by a New York-based company of the same name, is meant to represent "that throughout life's circular journey, your path is your own." The white bead contains water from Mount Everest and the black bead contains mud from the Dead Sea. This is meant to signify the highest and lowest points on the planet, and thus keep the person who wears the bracelet balanced no matter what life throws his or her way.
Despite their affordability -- with a retail price of $18 -- lokai bracelets seemed to be little known until they became a top-trending topic on Twitter Thursday. They were put in the spotlight and got national attention. And it’s all because of their latest promotion.
Lokai’s latest money-maker is for World Water Day, March 22. In an effort to raise funds to bring clean water to millions of people in developing countries, Lokai has created a limited-edition blue bracelet.
“Buy a blue lokai before World Water Day ... and we’ll donate $3 to our partner, charity: water. 100% of this donation will go toward supporting charity: water’s mission of bringing access to clean water to millions of people in developing countries,” the jewelry site explained.
The bracelet comes in three sizes. A small usually fits younger people and women with small wrists, a medium is appropriate for teen boys and average women and a large is for the average man. Click here to purchase the blue limited edition.
Several celebrities already are fans of lokai. Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian tweeted about the bracelet Wednesday.
Others spotted wearing lokai bracelets include stars like Emma Roberts, Bella Thorne, Justin Bieber, Kylie Jenner, Ashley Benson, Shawn Mendes, Christina Perri, Victoria Justice and Ashley Greene.
