By the end of Wednesday afternoon, the term “tomorrow is September” was a top-trending Twitter topic. While most people were lamenting the impending end of summer, others were celebrating the forthcoming release date of Lady Gaga’s new single, “Perfect Illusion.” Mother Monster teased Sunday at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards that it would drop in the ninth month of the year.

Many fans celebrated with gifs of Gaga. Others used a funny gif of Judge Judy banging on her watch.

Even though it hasn’t been released yet, Gaga’s single debuted at No. 1 on Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks. Since there isn’t any music for the track yet, it soon dropped to No. 18. But the “illusion” of a new track coming excited fans enough to get it No. 1 for a short time.

Gaga’s last hit, “Till It Happens To You,” debuted last October. So, fans have essentially waited a full year for new music from the New York native.

Part of the reason Gaga hasn’t released new tunes is because of her stint on Season 5 of “American Horror Story: Hotel.” The singer dusted off her acting chops to portray The Countess.

She also went through a breakup with her fiancé, “Chicago Fire” star Taylor Kinney. The singer is hoping she and Kinney can reunite.

“Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break,” she wrote on Instagram in July. “We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other.”
