“MacGyver” ends Season 3 with a big finale episode tonight, but the fate of the CBS series beyond this episode was only just determined yesterday.

The network decided to give out a bunch of renewals to shows on Thursday, and “MacGyver” was one of the lucky ones chosen. That means it’ll be back with Season 4 before fans know it.

What about the other Peter M. Lenkov-created CBS shows?

The new “Magnum P.I.,” which aired its Season 1 finale last month, was renewed for Season 2 in January. As for the “Hawaii Five-0” revival, which has its Season 9 finale next Friday (May 17), a cancellation or renewal decision was made on Thursday, like it was for “MacGyver,” and just like the fellow Lenkov series, it’s also been renewed. It will be back with Season 10 during the 2019-20 TV season.

When comparing the ratings for “MacGyver” with the rest of CBS’ scripted series, the show comes in at 22 out of 26 in the 18-49 demographic, with a 0.7 rating, according to TV Series Finale.

The show has a total viewer average of 6.137 million, which is only above a few shows, including newbies “The Code” and “The Red Line.” It’s also slightly above “Magnum P.I.,” which has 5.992 million, but that series comes in higher in the 18-49 demo, with 0.89.

With the exciting news that there will be a “MacGyver” Season 4, fans can completely enjoy tonight’s Season 3 finale, written by Jim Adler and directed by Maja Vrvilo. In Season 3, episode 22, titled “Mason + Cable + Choices,” Angus (Lucas Till) is faced with some tough choices.

“MacGyver faces off with a cunning new adversary whose carefully crafted plans put Mac at the epicenter of an impossible choice: save the life of a friend, or save the lives of hundreds of innocents,” the synopsis shares. “Also, Mac receives new information that will drive a wedge between him and his father.”

Catch the Season 3 finale of “MacGyver” on CBS on Friday at 8 p.m. EDT.
