A woman in Washington state managed to escape kidnapping by jumping off a moving vehicle after the abductor drove off with her at knifepoint.

The incident was reported at around 4.30 a.m. Saturday from Vancouver after a 911 caller told the dispatcher a woman was banging on their door saying she had been kidnapped, Clark County Sheriff's Office said in a news release, The News Tribune reported.

The deputies, who arrived at the scene talked to the distressed woman.

The unidentified woman said she was kidnapped from Grand Boulevard in Vancouver on Saturday morning, after the suspect approached her asking for some water.

When the woman offered him water, and allowed the man into her car, he took out a knife and forced his way into the driver's seat before driving away with her.

The suspect then drove off with her to Northeast 28th Street and Northeast 233rd Avenue in Cama. As the vehicle slowed down on a dirt road, the woman jumped out and approached the houses nearby, the police said.

An hour later, the police spotted the suspect in the vehicle, and arrested him after a brief chase, reports said.

Meanwhile, the police said the suspect refused to reveal his identity and they were trying to get his details. The suspect was currently booked into Clark County Jail on charges of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, attempt to elude, and reckless driving, CBS News reported.

In a similar incident over the weekend, a 10-year-old girl managed to escape an attempted abduction in New York City's Staten Island. The unidentified girl was allegedly kidnapped by a 20-year-old man, who approached her in an ice cream truck. The man reportedly grabbed the child by the wrist and forced her into the ice cream truck, but she escaped the vehicle after it traveled about a mile. The girl then used a passerby's cellphone to alert the mother, who reported it to the police. The authorities then took the suspect into custody for questioning.
