The truth may be out there, but now it's closer than ever. "The X-Files," the blockbuster sci-fi series that ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002, will begin shooting its six-episode series revival in Vancouver in early June -- and much of the old behind-the-scenes gang will be back for the ride, said Glen Morgan, one of the renowned screenwriters and co-executive producers from the show.

Morgan, who is currently in Australia teaching a "showrunner masterclass," told Australian radio host Nicole Dyer in an on-air interview on Friday that the show's first script, penned by series creator Chris Carter, is already written. "It's just terrific," said Morgan, who had just finished reading it. "We start filming around June 8 in Vancouver." The Canadian city is where the series was filmed for its first five seasons in the 1990s.

Morgan and former writing partner James Wong, who were the brains behind some of the series' most legendary episodes such as "Ice" and "Home," have both signed on to write for the short-order series. "I'm halfway done with my script," he said. "All of us are going to direct the episodes that we write."

Morgan added that his brother, Darin Morgan, is also on board to write a script. Darin Morgan wrote only four scripts for the series during its run in the 1990s, but his episodes are among the most beloved. His "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" from Season Three won an Emmy and is widely hailed as one of the series' masterworks.

Morgan wasted no time lavishing praise on his brother's work. "[Darin Morgan] and Vince Gilligan were the best writers on that show," said Morgan. "Unfortunately [Vince] won't be there."

Gilligan, who created the hit series "Breaking Bad" and its spinoff "Better Call Saul," confirmed that he wouldn't be able to reunite with his X-Files co-workers in a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session on Thursday.

"My work on 'Better Call Saul' will keep me from doing that. I'm very sad to miss out, because I would love to have a hand in 'The X-Files' reboot. 'The X-Files' was my second favorite job ever," wrote Gilligan on Reddit. "I will be watching as a fan. I can't wait to see it."

But the production site in Vancouver will still serve as a major reunion for many X-Files cast and crew. In addition to showrunner Chris Carter and co-stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, much of the crew that worked on the series' first five seasons in Vancouver will be back on set as well, according to both Morgan and Carter in separate interviews.

And one crew member will return in a slightly different capacity: Gillian Anderson's daughter, Piper, who was born during the second season of the show and was often on set with her mom. She will be working in the show's art department, according to Morgan. "She's interested in production and design work," said Morgan.

For Morgan, writing for the show's iconic Fox Mulder and Dana Scully again seems a bit surreal. "I sit down at my notebook and write, ‘Mulder, Scully, where are you or whatever.’ It’s weird, after 19 years, the last time I wrote that. I got a little emotional putting it on paper.”
