YouTube Star Berry Ng Regrets Getting 30 Plastic Surgeries For Boyfriend
Hong Kong-based YouTube personality Berry Ng went under the knife more than 30 times to impress her now ex-boyfriend after he complained about her overall appearance. Ng, 22, completed the surgical procedures over the course of five years. Most of her surgeries were completed when she was 21 years old.
Ng posted a video on her YouTube channel in 2015 that detailed her reasoning for repeated procedures, which included how her ex-boyfriend often compared her to supermodels. With his encouragement, she went to a beauty salon that offered packages to students for her first procedure.
Ng augmented her forehead, cheeks, eyes, nose and chin to the tune of more than $3,000. Her efforts still weren't adequate enough to impress her then-boyfriend, however. Therefore, she continued to go under the knife to seek his approval.
"At that moment, if he had stopped me and told me that I was beautiful enough, I would have stopped, but he didn't," Ng said, according to Asia One.
Ng also visited a plastic surgeon in 2016 to receive breast implants after her former boyfriend complained that her breasts were too small. The YouTuber eventually realized that she had gone under the knife for all the wrong reasons following an emotion-filled encounter with her mother. Ng's mother cried upon visiting her during the recovery period after her breast augmentation.
Ng broke up with her boyfriend and recovered from her plastic surgery habits, soon after. She has also used her platform as a YouTube personality to promote positivity by educating other girls on her experiences and cautioning them on the dangers of plastic surgery.
"I just want to make more people know that we are all good from [when] we [are] born," Ng wrote Thursday on Instagram. "I am telling you to 'be your self' [and] 'live a life you remember.' I am telling...everyone you are amazing."
Ng also claimed to not be "a surgery monster and fever addicted on plastic surgery."
A representative for Berry Ng did not immediately return International Business Times' request for comment.
