Zack Snyder announced Sunday that his zombie heist film "Army of the Dead" will release in May on Netflix.

"Survivors take all. #ArmyOfTheDead on @Netflix May 21," the director tweeted, along with the film’s poster. Snyder also revealed that a teaser for his upcoming film will be released Thursday.

"Army of the Dead” revolves around a group of mercenaries who attempt a heist at a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak.

The film's cast is led by "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Dave Bautista. It also stars Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Nora Arnezeder, Matthias Schweighofer, Samantha Win, Theo Rossi and Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi.

With this film, Snyder, who has helmed Hollywood movies like "300" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," is returning to his roots.

His first movie as a director was 2004's "Dawn of the Dead," a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name.

Talking about his upcoming film, Snyder earlier described "Army of the Dead" as a "full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie."

"It's genre-on-genre in a great way," he added in his interview with Entertainment Weekly. "So you expect pure zombie mayhem, and you get that, 100%. But also you get these really amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It's going to surprise people that there's a lot of warmth and real emotion with these great characters."

Bautista was initially not too keen about taking on the project.

"I said I wasn't interested. I had this chip on my shoulder and was looking for juicy [dramatic roles]. Then I read the script and it was a lot deeper and had more layers than I thought. And also, to be quite frank, I wanted to work with Zack," Bautista said.

The director is also awaiting the release of "Zack Snyder’s Justice League."

"Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be available worldwide in all markets on the same day as in the U.S. on March 18 via on-demand, digital download, linear, or streaming. #SnyderCut #SnydercutWorldwide," he tweeted earlier this month.

He further informed his fans that "platform availability will depend on each territory (with the exception of China, France, and Japan, where the release dates are TBD)" and promised that "additional details for specific markets will be shared soon."

Fans are excited about it as they are looking forward to watching his version of "Justice League." Snyder previously left the 2017 superhero film during its post-production due to a family tragedy.

Director Joss Whedon, best known for Marvel blockbusters such as "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron," stepped in.

After its release, not many fans were impressed with the final outcome. Soon, they demanded the release of the original cut of the film from Snyder.
