Zoë Kravitz has been very close to her stepdad Jason Momoa, but she understands that it's time for him and her mom, Lisa Bonet, to go their separate ways.

Momoa, 42, and Bonet, 54, had been together for 16 years and married for nearly five years. According to reports, they drifted apart and the "Mad Max: Fury Road" star will be among Bonet's support amid the difficult time.

"Zoë is very close to Lisa and will be of great support as she navigates through this," an unnamed source told E! News. "She also really likes Jason and has a good relationship with him so it's all very sad that this chapter is closing. She loves them both but understands that it was time for them to move on."

Momoa befriended Bonet's ex-husband rocker Lenny Kravitz and became a doting stepdad to her and Lenny's daughter, Zoë. In 2018, he complimented his stepdaughter, telling People: "Zoë is a beautiful human being."

Momoa and Zoë refer to each other as "zozo bear" and "papa bear." They also have matching arm tattoos "etre toujours ivre," a French phrase that means "always be drunk."

In an interview with Men's Health magazine in 2020, Momoa recalled when Zoë started dating. He admitted that he was a worrier and Lenny was a "way cooler" dad than him.

"I was baffled," he told the outlet.

In 2019, the "Batman" star married Karl Glusman in Paris and at the time, Momoa expressed his support for the couple.

"I love her husband," Momoa said. "I love her dad. I hope and pray my daughter is that talented and loving and open and close to her family."

However, Zoë filed for divorce from Glusman in January 2021, less than two years after they got married.

When Bonet's daughter bagged the "Cat Woman" role, Momoa shared a photo of them and expressed how proud he was of his stepdaughter.

"I’m so proud of u zozo bear. On and off screen OHANA. DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN Unbelievable so freaking stoked. You're going to have so much fun Aloha P bear," he wrote on Instagram.

Zoë also showed how much she loved her stepdad on his 41st birthday. The "Big Little Lies" actress shared a photo of them embracing in a now-deleted post and wrote, "Happy birthday papabear! I love you [red heart emoji]."

According to sources, the "Game of Thrones" actor and the "Cosby Show" star had different priorities.

"They drifted apart and wanted different things," the insider said.

Momoa was focused on his career and wanted to work.

"He has found success and it's driving him and is very fulfilling," the source said. "Lisa wants to be in LA and is not interested in going on location for long periods of time with him."

Bonet's priorities were her health and wellness. According to the source, those were the things that motivated her.

Another insider told People the same thing. "They have grown apart because of different focuses," the tipster said.

Bonet and Momoa share two children — daughter Lola, 14, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 13.
