‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Spoilers: Leaked Production Notes Reveal Secret Character And More [TRAILER]
WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, in theaters on July 20.
Christopher Nolan's third installment in his renowned Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, officially premieres tonight at midnight. The superhero action flick is sure to attract flocks of fans, from diehard followers of the winged- creature- themed caped crusader to enthusiastic moviegoers. Nolan put out his first Batman film seven years ago, and following Batman Begins in 2005 was The Dark Knight, which hit theaters four years ago in 2008.
Select theaters are offering screenings of the entire Batman trilogy to celebrate the launch of the next chapter in the Dark Knight's epic story, but tickets may be hard to snag. For those who can't wait until tomorrow to see what happens in the final segment of the Batman series, here are the latest spoilers to surface .
The film takes place eight years after Batman disappears following The Dark Knight, turning from superhero to fugitive after assuming responsibility for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent. For some time, criminal activity in Gotham ceased under the anti-crime Dent act, but the arrival of Catwoman and masked terrorist Bane have changed that. This is all according to the plot synopsis on the official Warner Bros. website, but the last sentence in the plot summary hints at a potential spoiler for the film.
But even if he [Batman] dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.
This fuels rumors that Batman will die at the end of the film at the fist of Bane, and a recent interview with writer David S. Goyer also alludes to that notion.
The final scene of 'The Dark Knight Rises' is exactly [the] scene we talked about [when Christopher Nolan and I started the trilogy with 'Batman Begins,'] Goyer, who is also writing the plot for Treyarch and Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 said to Empire Magazine. It remained completely unchanged. We both knew in our hearts that we were onto something special. I have to tell you, having finally seen everything strung together a little while ago and seeing that scene, I got a complete lump in my throat.
However, Empire continued to inquire about what this could possibly mean for the film, inferring that if Batman were to die Nolan would be committing complete sacrilege.
Yup! That's why it's f-king exciting! Goyer responded.
Although this does seem like the most highly cited rumor, there are plenty of scenarios that Goyer could be referring to. Batman could give up his life as a vigilante for good, or perhaps another core character such as Alfred or Gordon dies.
But plot points aren't the only spoilers for The Dark Knight Rises that have been revealed ahead of the release date. According to production notes that surfaced on the Wrath of the Titans website, a secret character that has not been announced will appear in the film.
[Liam] Neeson next appears in Peter Berg's actioner 'Battleship,' and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan's much-anticipated action thriller 'The Dark Knight Rises.'
Neeson played the role of villain Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins and was seemingly killed in a train explosion. However, it has been highly speculated that Ghul's League of Shadows will play a major role in the new film, according to Screen Rant.
It is unclear if any of these rumors or spoilers are true, but fans can see for themselves beginning tomorrow, July 20. What do you think will happen in The Dark Knight Rises? Check out the trailer and sound of in the comments below.
