The 10 most preferred US destinations by overseas travelers in 2010, L.A. 2nd
According to the latest statistics of the US Office of Travel and Tourism Industries, L.A. was the 2nd most preferred US destination by overseas travelers in 2010 surpassing Miami which claimed the spot in 2009.
New York on the other hand has remained as top US destination for 8 straight years now and was visited by approximately 8.5 million visitors.
The Office also reported that tourism in the US would rebound and grow by about 49% from 2011 to 2016 and that countries with the largest forecasted growth for visitors in that period were China(+232%), South Korea (+200%), Brazil (+150%), the Russian Federation (+139%), and India (+94%).
The following is a list of the 20 most visited US destinations in 2010 by overseas travelers with the total number of visitors hosted (in millions):
1. New York City - 8.5
2. Los Angeles - 3.3
3. Miami - 3.1
4. Orlando - 2.7
5. San Francisco - 2.6
6. Las Vegas - 2.4
7. Washington, DC - 1.7
8. Honolulu - 1.6
9. Boston - 1.1
10. Chicago - 1.1
11. San Diego - 0.8
12. Atlanta - 0.7
13. Philadelphia - 0.6
14. Flagstaff-Grand Canyon-Sedona - 0.5
15. Seattle - 0.5
16. Houston - 0.4
17. Anaheim - Santa Ana - 0.4
