BTS member RM has a lot of talents up his sleeve. He can not only sing, dance and rap, but he is also a prolific songwriter and lyricist.
The 27-year-old South Korean rapper, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, has not only participated in the creation of many of BTS' tracks and written and produced all the songs for both his mixtapes, "RM" and "Mono," but he has also co-written and co-produced music for other artists.
As of July, RM has 199 credits registered to Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) under his name and is currently ranked second among Korean artists with the most credits, according to AllKpop.
Here are 10 of the songs that RM has co-written and co-produced for other artists, according to the outlet.
1. "Love U, Hate U" by 2AM
RM started participating in writing songs at 16 years old while he was still a trainee of the hip-hop group being formed by then-CEO of BigHit Entertainment Bang Si Hyuk that later became BTS.
In 2010, RM co-wrote "Love U, Hate U," one of the tracks of South Korean pop group 2AM's first full-length album "Saint o' Clock."
2. "Party (XXO)" by Glam
RM started to build his songwriting and producing career even before hitting big as a member of BTS, and one of the songs he helped write before making his debut as an artist was the 2012 debut single of the now-disbanded South Korean pop girl group Glam, "Party (XXO)."
At the time, RM and Glam were labelmates in BigHit Music, which is now known as Hybe Entertainment. "Party (XXO)" was recognized by Billboard as one of the few explicitly pro-LGBTQ+ songs among K-pop idol groups.
3. "U" by Primary featuring RM and Kwon Jin Ah
"U" made it onto the Korean charts upon its release in 2015. RM co-wrote and featured on the song alongside "K-Pop Star" Season 3's third-placer Kwon Jin Ah.
"U" is part of Primary's second studio album, "2-1."
4. "Dilemma" by Homme
"Dilemma" was released in 2016 by South Korean pop duo Homme, whose members are Lee Hyun and 2AM's Changmin. The song was a non-album single and was co-written and produced by RM and Bang.
5. "Gajah" by Gaeko featuring RM
In 2017, "Gajah" was released by hip-hop artist Gaeko, and RM was featured in the track. However, RM's rapping skills were not the only thing showcased in the non-album single as he is also credited as a songwriter. "Gajah" made it to no. 17 on the Korean charts.
6. "Timeless" by Tiger JK featuring RM
"Timeless" is a track in rapper Tiger JK's last and final album under the stage name Drunken Tiger, "Drunken Tiger X: Rebirth of Tiger JK."
Aside from appearing on the track, RM also participated in the writing, and his contribution reportedly impressed Tiger JK.
7. "Crying Over You" by Honne featuring Beka and RM
RM wrote a melancholic verse for British electropop duo Honne's remake of "Crying Over You" and featured on the track alongside singer Beka.
8. "Winter Flower" by Younha featuring RM
Younha, who was nicknamed the Oricon Comet due to her success in the Japanese music chart, worked with RM on the ballad track "Winter Flower," which was released in January 2020 as part of Younha's extended play "Unstable Mindset."
It was one of the most successful music collaborations for RM outside of BTS as the song topped South Korean and U.S. music charts. "Winter Flower" earned Younha the title of the first South Korean female solo artist to top the U.S. iTunes chart.
9. "Don't" by eAeon featuring RM
RM showed his vulnerable side when co-writing the lyrics of South Korean indie singer eAeon's track "Don't" from the latter's second album Fragile," which was released last year. The song's lyrics reportedly expressed the desperation of holding onto an already broken relationship.
RM also featured on and co-produced the track.
10. "0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You)" by Tomorrow x Together featuring Seori
TXT's chart-topping single "0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You)" is also among RM's songwriting credits.
