A 10-year-old Texas girl survived a fatal shooting Wednesday by playing dead while a masked gunman massacred her family members.

The incident took place in the state's West Airport Boulevard just after 10:30 p.m. ET. Deputies at the Houston Police Department responded to the 12100 block of Fondren Road and found the child’s father, mother and younger sister dead, KHOU 11 reported, citing cops.

Police identified the deceased as Gregory Carhee, 35, Donyavia Lagway, 29, and Harmony Carhee, 6. The 10-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound in her arm and was taken to a hospital, her family members said, according to ABC 13.

The couple had four children together, the 10-year-old girl, Harmony, a 1-year-old boy who was uninjured in the shooting, and an 8-year-old boy who was at his uncle’s home when the shooting occurred, the girl’s family told ABC 13.

"She said, 'Granny, someone came in and shot me, my mom, my dad, and my sister, and they are dead," the girl’s family member, Angela Ervin, told ABC 13. "She was in the house for about 15 minutes with the bodies until we got here."

"She FaceTimed her grandmother... showed her everything," another family member Tamera Denton told the publication. "Then her [grandmother] called 911."

"This is a very, very tragic scene. We're sending out prayers to the family," Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu told ABC 13. "This was a very difficult scene not only for us, the officers, but the family as well. So we're sending out prayers and hopes that anybody has any information."

The shooter remained on the run as of Thursday and the motive of the crimes is not known yet.

A witness of the tragic shooting scene told KHOU 11 that the suspect arrived wearing a medical mask. The man allegedly turned up at the main entrance and shot Gregory. He then threw the 1-year-old child by the hair and opened fire at other family members. Investigators believe that the suspect must have been previously known to the family because there was no sign of forced entry.
