KEY POINTS

  • Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla
  • Jude Bellingham scored for Dortmund
  • Dortmund are second in Group G of Champions League

Jude Bellingham has joined Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in an elite Champions League list.

Bellingham on Tuesday scored in Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw with Sevilla in their Group G match of the 2022-23 Champions League. The 19-year-old midfielder has now scored in four consecutive Champions League appearances, becoming only the third teenager to achieve the feat after Haaland and Mbappe, according to Opta Joe.

Haaland bagged the record in November 2019 during his time at RB Salzburg. Mbappe was the first teenager to score in four consecutive Champions League appearances. He clinched the record in the 2016-17 season when he was at AS Monaco.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Mbappe claimed yet another record in the Champions League on Tuesday. With his goal in PSG's 1-1 draw with Benfica, Mbappe became the Paris-based club's all-time scorer in European competitions. Mbappe, who went past previous record-holder Edinson Cavani, now has 31 goals in 48 Champions League games.

Apart from scoring for PSG, Mbappe was also in the news after reports claimed he was looking to leave the Ligue 1 side in January. Lionel Messi's increasing influence could be one of the reasons behind the French forward's sudden desire to move on from the PSG project.

Bellingham, who has been heavily linked with quite a few top European clubs, including Liverpool FC, ahead of the 2023 summer, has begun the ongoing season on a high. While he has scored four goals in Champions League, overall, the central midfielder has netted five goals and assisted two in 14 games for Dortmund.

Reacting to his transfer links, Bellingham, whose transfer fee is expected to be around $115 million, earlier said he didn't want to be "disrespectful" to Dortmund by discussing his future beyond the German club.

Dortmund are now three points off group leaders Manchester City, who have seven points after their draw with FC Copenhagen.

City signed Haaland from Dortmund in the summer of 2022 and the Norwegian forward had a flying start to his new life in Manchester. He has already netted 20 goals in just 13 competitive matches for the Etihad side. Of them, 15 have come in the Premier League. He has struck three hat-tricks as well in the tournament.
