12-Year-Old Girl Covered In Blood Pleads For Help As Onlookers Take Videos; Rape Suspected

A 12-year-old girl was found lying on the ground with multiple injuries and covered in blood in India.

She was found behind a hotel in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, New Indian Express reported Tuesday. Several videos of the girl went viral on social media in which she was seen pleading for help while onlookers attempted to capture her on their phones, instead of assisting her.

In one of the videos shared on social media, the unidentified girl was seen with multiple injuries, including a serious head wound, and drenched in blood. She was seen raising her arms in an attempt to seek help from bystanders. However, a group of men were seen making videos of the vulnerable child from various angles, local reports said.

Some onlookers also raised questions if the officials were informed. However, no attempts were visibly made by bystanders to assist the minor girl or rush her to the hospital.

While locals said the girl was gang-raped and dumped on the ground, police said it was too early to reach a conclusion.

According to the victim's family, she had stepped out of her home to buy a piggy bank Sunday afternoon but didn't not return for several hours. The family later raised an alarm and began searching for her in the area.

Another video showed a local police officer carrying the girl in his arms and taking her to a vehicle. The officer reportedly rushed the girl to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

"The minor girl was found injured and the local police rushed her to the hospital for treatment," police officer Anupam Singh said, as reported by New Indian Express.

Police said they were waiting for the girl's account of what happened before taking further action in the incident.

Police found a security footage that showed a man talking to the young child before allegedly taking her to the guest house, NDTV reported. Cops were on the lookout for the suspect.

Meanwhile, the child's family filed a complaint in the matter and an investigation was underway. They suspected she was sexually assaulted.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident so far.
