A 12-year-old girl in Parker County, Texas, who shot her father and herself as part of a murder pact she'd allegedly made with another child has died, authorities announced.

The girl died at a local hospital on Sept. 22, two days after she shot herself in the head soon after shooting her 38-year-old father in the abdomen in Weatherford, the Parker County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. Her and her father's identities have not been released due to the child's age.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause and manner of death as a "suicide by gunshot wound of head."

The girl's father has already been released from the hospital. He is expected to fully recover from the attempt on his life, authorities said.

It was on Sept. 20 when the 12-year-old girl was found lying in the street outside of a home in Weatherford in northwestern Parker County with a gunshot wound.

Police then found the girl's father with a gunshot wound to the abdomen inside the home.

According to investigators, the girl likely shot her father first, fled the home and then shot herself.

Police were able to recover a handgun underneath the girl's body. The weapon's registered owner has not been disclosed.

The Parker County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that the girl had "planned for several weeks to murder her family and pets."

She had been talking to another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin, Texas, about the alleged plot, according to police.

The second girl also planned to murder her father but did not go through with it, according to the press release.

"The pair had then planned for the Weatherford juvenile to drive to Lufkin, pick up the second juvenile suspect and run away together to Georgia," the sheriff's office said.

Parker County Sheriff's Office said in its most recent statement that "the second 12-year-old female from Lufkin, who sheriff's investigators believe was involved with the planning of the shooting, was taken into custody last week and has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder."

As of this writing, authorities have not mentioned a possible motive for the murder pact.
