Another 14 bodies have been found in the rubble of the collapsed Surfside condo, bringing the death toll to 78, with 62 still considered missing.

CBS News reports that 47 of the 78 victims have been identified.

“This is a staggering and heartbreaking number that affects all of us very, very deeply,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava at a press conference Friday.

No one has been found alive underneath the rubble since just after the building, which was known to have “major structural damage” three years prior, collapsed on June 24.

“The magnitude of this tragedy has been growing each day,” Levine Cava said.

The efforts have turned to a recovery mission from a search and rescue effort. Over 13 million pounds of concrete have been removed from the site as the attempt to recover the victims continues.

“Usually in a building collapse like this, you will find what we call void spaces. These spaces are created by objects that stop the falling debris above your head, and that’s where you find the victims,” said Dr. Christopher Valerian.

“The building pancaked down and the pressure from the floors above just created so much downward force that those normal void spaces where survivors would be located just don’t exist,” he added.

President Biden was at the site of the collapse last week trying to console family members who lost loved ones in the tragic event.

“I wish there was something I can do to ease the pain,” he said.
