A teenager in New Jersey kills a woman, then enlists the help of the victim’s minor daughter to help dispose of her body. The mother of the girl was reported missing and later found dead laying in a creek on Monday (June 15), having suffered multiple stab wounds.
According to the police, the 51-year-old Divna Rosasco was reported missing early Monday by her husband. A Bergen County sheriff’s officer located Rosasco’s SUV abandoned at the Overpeck Park in Teaneck. The officer noticed that the SUV’s license plate was bent and doubted this was an attempt to conceal the owner’s identity.
During a further search, the officer found blood and debris inside the vehicle. A K-9 unit, called in to investigate the scene, led the officers towards a boat basin.
The investigators found a body submerged in around four feet of water. The killers had wrapped the body in a bedsheet and they wrapped the head with a plastic bag. They bound the body with duct tape and rope, then it weighed down using a five-pound bucket filled with concrete and kitty litter.
They later identified the victim as Rosasco. A preliminary investigation, started and a short time later, located Rosasco’s 14-year-old daughter with her 19-year-old friend, Nicolas Coirazza, trying to leave a nearby hotel and brought in for questioning.
According to an official press release, after the “result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office,” Coirazza and Rosasco’s daughter were arrested.
The identity of the girl remained secret as she is a minor.
According to the autopsy report, Rosasco’s throat sustained injuries consistent with a bladed weapon. She also had multiple stab wounds across her body.
According to reports, Coirazza was “known to the family.” Reports state that the murder occurred at the victim’s home in Cresskill.
“Coirazza then enlisted the help of the juvenile to dispose of the victim’s body,” the press release stated. It is still unclear how the suspects knew each other.
They charged both teens with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, disturbing human remains, tampering with evidence, hindering apprehension of another, and hindering apprehension of self.
The girl faces additional charges of disturbing human remains, tampering with evidence, hindering apprehension of another, and hindering apprehension of self, and a weapons violation.
The motive behind the slaying is unclear. This is an ongoing investigation.
