15-Year-Old Florida Girl Allegedly Raped By Armed Security Guard At Movie Theater
A 15-year-old girl in Florida was allegedly raped by an armed security guard as she was waiting for her mother to pick her up after a movie.
The incident took place on Jan. 14 at the Hollywood 16 movie theater on SW 27th Avenue. The accused allegedly raped her on the pretext of trying to help her, WFTV reported.
The victim was visiting the movie hall with her friends, and was left stranded after a friend's grandfather refused to give her a ride home. She tried contacting her mom, who had dropped her off at the movie theater.
The girl then sought the help of the security guard, identified as Augusta Williams, 31, who promised to keep a watch on her as she waited for her mom, the outlet reported, citing a Wednesday news release by the Ocala Police Department.
The man then led the victim into an empty theater room and behind a curtain, where he raped her.
Authorities said the victim tried to resist, but was afraid as the culprit had a gun. Williams continued to sexually assault her despite the girl pleading with him to stop.
Williams was arrested and charged with the sexual battery of a victim less than 18 years old. He was taken to the Marion County Jail.
During the encounter, Williams told the girl that "if she said anything, he would punch her in the face and tapped on his gun as he told her again not to say anything," the police wrote in an arrest affidavit, as per WESH.
Meanwhile, the victim's mother showed up at the theater to pick up her daughter, after realizing she had been trying to contact her.
The lead detectives in the case said the incident was an outright breach of trust by someone in a position of trust.
"It gives anybody that's in any kind of public safety like that, whether law enforcement or anything similar to that, as far as being armed security, people are supposed to come to us for help and then when something like this happens, it just gives us a bad rap," Detective Kyle Kearn told WESH.
