A teen boy in India was arrested for fatally shooting his mother and hiding her body at home for two days. The 16-year-old who admitted to the crime said he killed his mother after she stopped him from playing a videogame, reports said.

The incident happened in Lucknow, a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Sunday. However, the horrific murder came to light only Tuesday when the neighbors informed the police about the incident, First Post reported.

An investigation revealed that after killing his mother, the unidentified minor boy hid the body at his home for two days where the suspect stayed with his 9-year-old sister. The boy reportedly used a room freshener to cover the foul smell and threatened his sister not to reveal it to anyone.

However, by Tuesday when the smell of the decomposed body became severe, the boy called up his father, who is working in a different city. He then told him that the mother was killed by an electrician who visited the house for some work. The father informed the neighbors, who reported the incident to the police.

During interrogation, the boy initially told the police the same story he told his father. But the investigation revealed that it was a cooked-up story and the minor was taken into custody.

"A preliminary probe revealed that he was addicted to the game and his mother used to stop him from playing, due to which he committed the murder with his father's pistol. He committed the crime on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday," the police said, as reported by ANI.

A teenage girl in India set herself on fire in June 2021, after her mother scolded her for excessive use of mobile phones. The 16-year-old girl from the southern city of Hyderabad left her home after a heated argument with her mother over her mobile phone usage. The police later found her body in a desolate area. The investigators determined that the girl poured kerosene over her body and set herself ablaze after she left the house.
