16-Year-Old Secretly Delivers Baby Inside Hospital Bathroom, Dumps Newborn In Trash Bin

A teenage girl is in police custody for allegedly delivering a baby inside a hospital bathroom before dumping it in a trash bin. The incident came to light after sanitation workers found the baby inside the bin.

Police said the incident happened in the Indian state of Telangana Saturday, reports The New Indian Express.

The 16-year-old girl, hailing from the city of Nizamabad, first approached a government hospital Friday, seeking admission. However, she refused to provide details, including her age and address, to the hospital staff. The hospital refused to take her in unless she provided details, following which the girl went back home.

However, she began experiencing labor pain Saturday. She went to another private hospital, got inside the bathroom, and delivered the baby secretly. The girl, whose identity has not been revealed, then threw the child in a nearby garbage bin.

She then went inside the hospital, complaining of bleeding. However, she hid about the childbirth and insisted she just had stomach pain. However, the doctors refused to believe her as the girl was bleeding profusely.

By then, sanitation workers had discovered the child. They brought the child, who was in critical condition, for treatment. However, the child died during treatment. The hospital management alerted the police immediately.

Suspicion fell on the girl, and the officers immediately interrogated her. She soon confessed to them about the pregnancy and childbirth. A case has been registered against the minor.

According to the police, the girl was in a relationship with a man, following which she fell pregnant. Though she lives with her grandparents, she hid her pregnancy from them. She was a Class XII student in Nizamuddin.

Police also charged the man with rape, as she is a minor.

A similar case was registered in another Indian city of Karnataka after a one-day-old baby girl was found hanging from the toilet window of a hospital. Police said the newborn was murdered before being hung from the window grill. CCTV visuals captured two women with a newborn, and one woman entering inside the toilet with the child. Minutes later, she was spotted leaving empty-handed.
