A teen has been arrested in Mississippi for kidnapping a female Lyft driver and shooting her multiple times.

Police arrested Dontarius McGee, 17, in connection with the incident, Jackson Deputy Chief of Police Deric Hearn said.

McGee booked the Lyft car driven by Brandy Littrell, 36, Tuesday afternoon. The driver picked up the suspect at the Spring Lake Apartments in Byram and drove him to another apartment complex in Jackson.

At that point, McGee pulled a gun on Littrell. He then forced her into the backseat of her black Dodge Journey and drove her to a wooded area, reported WJTV.

"He wanted my PIN number to my phone, my debit cards, and wanted to know how much money I had in the bank, and wanted to know what was in my house," Littrell said as per WAPT. "I gave him whatever he wanted because I was just trying to stay alive."

After reaching the wooded area, McGee forced Littrell to crawl through the woods. It was then that he shot her multiple times, according to Hearn.

"He said, 'Get on your knees.' So, I got on my knees, and then I heard the first shot," Littrell added. "I was trying to cover my face in case he kept shooting, which of course, he did."

McGee shot Littrell a total of seven times then stole her car.

With face drenched in blood, Littrell waited for a few minutes in the wooded area until her attacker left. She then ran to a nearby apartment complex for help. Littrell said the fear for her family motivated her to survive the ordeal.

"It took every strength in me because, at this point, I am concerned (because) my grandmother is at my house, and I was worried he was going to go after her," Littrell said further.

Littrell was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, said police.

McGee confessed to the crime, according to the police.

"He did confess to calling the female up for the Lyft driver," Hearn said in a press conference Wednesday.

Hearn added that this was not the first time the suspect robbed a driver.

McGee was arrested at around 9 p.m. Tuesday. He has been charged with carjacking, kidnapping and aggravated assault, KFOR said in a report.

Lyft already released a statement about the incident.

"The incident described is horrific and our hearts go out to Ms. Littrell and her loved ones," Lyft said as per WAPT. "We've reached out to offer our support, have permanently removed the rider from the Lyft community, and stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation."
