'1917,' 'Chernobyl' Among Top Winners At 2020 Producers Guild Awards

Sam Mendes' war-epic "1917" is making all the right noises before the 92nd Academy Awards and took home the Producers Guild Award for outstanding motion picture, making the best picture race at the Oscars even more interesting.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mendes accepted the award with producer Pippa Harris. In his speech, he said that it was a pleasure to work with so many great actors on this film. Meanwhile, Harris stated that this film is the perfect "reminder" that we should never take "peace" for granted.
The other movies nominated in this category were "Joker," "Jojo Rabbit," "The Irishman," "Knives Out," "Ford v Ferarri," "Little Women," "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood," and "Parasite."
"1917" is defying all the odds and coming out as the big winner across all the major award shows. The movie stunned everyone by winning best picture at the Golden Globes. The movie has also been nominated for 10 awards at the Oscars, including best picture and a directing nod for Mendes.
Meanwhile, "Toy Story 4" took home the award for outstanding animated feature. The movie edged out films like "Abominable," "Frozen II," "Missing Link," and "How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World."
On the television side, "Succession" was awarded with outstanding drama series after being one of the biggest winners during the awards season. It beat out shows like "Game Of Thrones," "The Crown," "Big Little Lies," and "Watchmen."
HBO's hit drama series "Chernobyl" continued its golden run by winning the outstanding limited series, while "Fleabag" was awarded with the outstanding comedy series trophy.
"Apollo 11," "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver," and "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee" won in their respective categories.
