2 Men Dead In Shooting At Utah Home, Police Investigating Murder-Suicide Angle
Two men were killed in a shooting at a home in Salt Lake County, West Jordan, Utah, on Sunday evening.
According to West Jordan Police, the men were shot in the garage of a home near 7100 South Callie Drive. Both of them sustained gunshot injuries to the head. While one of them was declared dead at the scene, the other was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where he later succumbed.
The identities of the two men have not been revealed. It was reported that one of the men was staying with a family in West Jordan and he was from Alabama, whereas, the other person was an acquaintance of the former who had come to meet him.
Police recovered a handgun from the scene and they believe no one else was involved. The case was being investigated as a double homicide, however, they did not rule out the possibility of a murder-suicide.
The owners of the house had contacted 911 after they heard gunshots being fired at around 5:45 p.m. local time (7:45 p.m. EST). The police were yet to find any witnesses to the incident.
“The garage door was shut, it appears, at the time of the shooting,” said Lieutenant Chaundra Edmonds. “The occupants of the home were quite shaken by what’s transpired."
Police were trying to figure out if drugs or alcohol were involved. The detectives and police were still gathering evidence to determine the exact cause of the shooting.
